Welding electrodes are the subject of the fourth section of the standard. The third section of the standard addresses qualification of welding procedures, welders, and welding operators. Joint types are discussed in the second section. General information on the following topics is presented in the first section of the standard: scope, definitions, references, construction drawings, affidavit of compliance, equipment, and the welding process. The standard's foreword covers the history of the standard, information regarding the use of the standard, and major revisions. This standard does not cover the design of field-welded joints. It also covers other welding required in field fabrication and installation of specials and appurtenances. Such field welding covers welding of three types of circumferential pipe joints: lap joints, butt joints, and butt strap joints. This standard pertains to manual, semiautomatic, and automatic field welding by the metal arc-welding process of steel water pipe that is manufactured in accordance with the AWWA C200, Standard for Steel Water Pipe 6 Inches and Larger.
